3 Creative Books With Which to Fall Madly in Love · Craftwhack

I become through book phases. Sometimes I'm all nearly them, sometimes I burn them in a pile in the back yard. Especially the ones that talk about topics I don't concord with. Good old book-burnings are what I'one thousand all well-nigh.

Actually, my relationship with books has inverse somewhat, every bit I read word-based books on my iPhone, while image-based books I prefer in real life. I'll tell ya about the books I have going right now. Actually only 3 of them, because I'grand also reading The Secret Life of Bees, but that but does not fit my little theme hither of creative books.

BOOK NUMBER ONE:

642 Things to Write About

I had to have this the moment I laid eyes on it in Target. Okay, commencement I bought it for my sis for her birthday, and then I ordered myself a re-create on Amazon (It'due south cheaper on Amazon, duh.) It'due south been sitting on my new work table for a week, and I haven't written anything from it still, but I keep flipping through, feeling inspired. Maybe this is what it will always be- merely a manner to inspire creative thoughts. Hopefully 1 day soon I'll get around to actually using it.

642 Things to Write About

I love how it'southward gear up as a diary, so y'all can start writing in it immediately, and if you lot are then moved, y'all tin go on the writing in a fabled trivial journal. Like this one:

Are you lot a journal/notebook freak? I've bought iv packs of these to have around and then if Target discontinues them I'll yet take stockpile.

Here are what the pages look like, as propped open by my gnarly toes. The prompts are things like, "Rewrite a slice of your ain writing in 1-syllable words." and, "Write a saucepan list for your favorite superhero." Have you lot grabbed your pen yet? I know you lot want to get writing.

Inside 642 Things to Write About

BOOK NUMBER Two:

Flow mag

Now merely you close your pie hole near the fact that this is calling itself a magazine. It's a book, and don't permit anyone tell y'all differently. In fact, information technology was in the magazine section at Barnes & Noble, only, dammit, it's a book.

Flow Magazine

It'southward sort of set up like a journal too, and this issue is all near mindfulness, something I'thou trying to remember to practice. But it's so hard and I get caught up in my head obsessing over stupid shit instead of being present and then adjacent thing I know 6 weeks take passed and who knows what even happened during that time, but good thing I'm nevertheless obsessing over whether my weblog logo should have pink in it or not.

Um.

Flow Magazine

Flow Magazine

And so this bookazine is full of soooo many surprises like niggling cards in a glassine envelope to write things down, a patterned fold-out page for a collage, and then much luscious analogy, and interviews and articles all about mindfulness. Information technology'south gear up so creatively, yous'll probably just explode.

3rd BOOK, I.E. BOOK NUMBER Iii:

Louder Than Words

This book has me all in a creative tizzy. I've been listening to Todd Henry's podcast for a while, (The Accidental Creative) and I observe him brilliant and inspiring. You know how in that location are a few people out there you follow and e'er become crazy amounts of insight from?

Louder Than Words book on Kindle

I pre-ordered Louder Than Words, because I knew it would be life-changing, and it so is.

It'southward for anyone who is looking to find and use their unique voice in their artistic work, whatever that may be. Does that sound vague? Or weird? Sometimes it's hard to find the bravery to put the real you lot out there in your work for the globe to see (and estimate), and many of usa hide backside what we feel will be accustomed past the almost people.

I'chiliad totally guilty of this, and I'm working to essentially be more "me" in my weblog, without worrying about whether or not I turn some people off, so my phonation isn't watered down.

Oh god, that sounds just so narcissistic. At to the lowest degree go read some of the reviews and heed to the little excerpt from the Audible version of the volume.

So there you have it – the iii books I'm bouncing around my head lately. Information technology's impossible to read simply one volume at a time. Got annihilation to add to my list?

Come up hang with me on Facebook and we can conversation all virtually books, food, fine art, and any else strikes your fancy.
